CAMPING ESSENTIALS YOU NEED FROM AMAZON
I would say at this point I’ve probably earn’t myself the accolade of a seasoned camper, having spent almost 3 years living in my self converted campervan, as well as lots of other trips before that, including road trips in New Zealand, Africa, and of course in the UK. One thing I have learnt is that camping can come with its challenges and so, having the right kit is important to ensure your experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Below you will find my top ten camping essentials, all purchased from Amazon:
Gas Cooker: A portable gas cooker is particularly useful if you are car or tent camping and don’t have a built in gas cooker. Not only are they cheap, but they are durable and set to last - you just buy rechargeable gas bottles [available from most supermarkets, outdoor shops, and Amazon].
Saucepans Kit: What goes with a gas cooker? Saucepans of course! Cook up some delicious alfesco dinners or bacon sarnies in the morning on your gas cooker with this set. Light weight and easy to store away, they are a must for cooking whilst camping. I’d also invest in a collapsible washing bowl so that you can easily carry the dirty pots and pans to the campsite washing up area.
Portable BBQ: A bbq is a must - barbecued food just hits different! This Valiant one has lasted me years, and is honestly such a brilliant buy. Just add coals [the burn in the bag ones are perfect], light them up, wait 20 mins, and you are good to cook up some tasty food! It neatly folds up so that you can carry it easily too [perfect for beach bbq!].
Cooler: A cooler is probably for those that don’t have a fridge set up, but I also found it handy when going to the beach - especially this one from Igloo as it has wheels! It fits plenty in, keeps everything cool for days, plus is a fraction of the price compared to the expensive Yeti ones.
Camping chairs: You spend a lot of time chilling at campsites - watching the sunset, eating al fresco, and relaxing with friends, so invest in decent chairs. I love the egg-shape of these ones, they are super comfy, and fold away neatly for easy storage.
Folding table: A table is key to prepare food, play cards on, and of course eat your meals at. This folding table is perfect as it neatly packs up into a small bag, making it also easy to store.
A speaker: Camping is all about the ambience and the vibe, so invest in a decent outdoor speaker - this one has lasted me years and is still going strong, and its weather resistant so is perfect for outdoor life!
Charging Station: If you don’t have electric hook up, or yours runs out, you may want to invest in a decent power bank. Getting something sturdy like this Jackery Portable Power Station means you can charge laptops, use a blender for smoothies, and even plug in a TV!
Porta Potty or Sheewee: Sometimes you’ve just got to go, but it’s not always possible so invest in a portable toilet solution so that you are never caught short. The Porta Potty is amazing, but if you don’t have much storage you may need to find something smaller. I had a trusty sheewee in my car camper and it did the trick!
Fire Pit: Nothing says camping more than sitting around a fire with friends or family, and this fire pit is perfect as not only does it store away into a small bag, but it can be put away as soon as you put the fire out - so is great if you need to pack up quickly. Its design also means it keeps the fire off the ground, which is important when you are camping on terrains like grass.
