AI: WHY YOU SHOULD BE USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

If you aren’t using AI, or artificial intelligence, in your workstream as a Social Media Manager, then you are missing a trick. There are worries from people that AI is taking over the world, including concerns over privacy of data and job disruption, and I definitely had my concerns. But what I’ve come to realise is that if used in the correct way, AI is a powerful tool that can help streamline your output. Think of it as your trusty sidekick!

WHAT IS AI?

Why You Should Be Using Artificial Intelligence

AI, short for artificial intelligence, is like the brainpower that we inject into machines. It's a field of computer science where we create systems that can perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. Think problem-solving, understanding language, recognizing patterns – all that jazz. From virtual assistants like Siri to self-driving cars, AI's everywhere. It's not just about robots taking over; it's about making our tech smarter and more helpful.

HOW CAN I USE AI?

As a Social Media Manager, AI can be used to help with analytics, content creation, and even chatbots to engage your audience. It's not about replacing you but making your life easier. Social Media Managers still need to be creative and create human connection with content, but AI can be used to dig a little deeper into subject matters and flesh out ideas, and to examine work from a different perspective.

HOW DO I USE AI AS A SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER?

Using AI can be a game-changer for a Social Media Manager. Here are some ways that it could help level up your social media game:

  • Analytics: AI-powered tools like Google Analytics or social media analytics platforms can give you deep insights into your audience's behavior.

  • Scheduling: Explore tools that use AI to analyze when your audience is most active. It takes the guesswork out of scheduling posts and ensures you hit that sweet spot.

  • Content Creation: AI can help you come up with engaging content and captions. Check out tools like Canva or Adobe Spark for design, or tools like Writesonic for generating killer copy. Or use Chat GBT and give it prompts like, "Give me ideas for engaging social media posts."

  • Chatbots: Consider using chatbots powered by AI to engage with your audience. They can handle routine queries, leaving you with more time for the fun stuff.

  • Sentiment Analysis: AI tools can analyze the sentiment behind social media mentions, helping you stay on top of what people are saying about your brand.

AI is an insatiable beast, and although potentially a scary tool to use, you don’t want to get left behind - it is here to stay. Remember, AI should only be used to help your work output, not to replace your unique touch. Stay creative and try to use it in a way that compliments your work - use it to augment or build on top of your creativity and not to use it to author your content. If used in this right way, AI could really help elevate your work.
