AN ITINERARY FOR A ROAD TRIP IN AFRICA

For those that know me - and just take one look at my Instagram account for those that don’t - it’s quite obvious that travel is one of my huge passions. One country that was still awaiting a tick on my travel bucket list though was Africa, so when I got a message one day from a friend asking if I’d be interested in working on The Africa Month I of course jumped at the chance.

The Africa Month was born from a collective love of exploring the unknown, something that I hugely relate to and live my life doing. The first ‘recce’ trip took place in 2017, with 21 mates heading out in their self drive safaris. The success of this trip, along with the epic content captured by photographer Rob Berry, sparked huge interest from their friends of friends and so, The Africa Month was officially born - a four week road-trip with international adventurers, visiting the most breathtaking deserts, savannahs, beaches, rivers and moutaintops on the planet, camping under the stars and getting up, close and personal with majestic creatures in the wild.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to take part on this trip in exchange for help with the social accounts and with the brand events, and although I was a staff member this is no way hindered my experience. I was blown away by the beauty of Africa and its ever changing landscapes - from desert, to what seemed liked mars land, green wilderness, white beaches, rolling hills with vineyards nestled in, and of course the breathtaking savannahs.

The four week road trip saw over 65 of us from all over the world cover over 8,000km with a nine strong convoy featuring Ford Rangers each equipped with 2x two man tents, a fridge and hob for all our sleeping and cooking needs [and to keep those beers chilled on long journeys!]. Starting in Cape Town, we journeyed along the Garden Route, across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, participating in activities along the way including wine tasting, river kayaking, bungee jumping and sky diving, and of course many incredible game drives.

Here are my top pictures from the trip of a lifetime, all taken by @the.rob.berry
